Raw Dough — TOXIC — do not feed
Raw dough is toxic to dogs due to the yeast it contains. The yeast ferments in the warm, moist environment of the stomach, producing ethanol and carbon dioxide. This can lead to alcohol poisoning and bloat.
TOXIC COMPOUND
Ethanol (alcohol) and expanding dough
Yeast fermentation produces ethanol, causing alcohol poisoning. The expanding dough in the stomach can cause bloat and gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV).
DOSE THRESHOLD
Any amount of raw dough can be dangerous; seek veterinary attention immediately if ingested.
